BYD has unveiled its latest electric vehicles, the Han L sedan and the Tang L SUV, both built on the manufacturer’s new Super e-platform, which supports ultra-fast charging at 1000 volts.
Launched during an event on April 9, these models promise to mitigate charging anxiety with impressive range capabilities, enabling drivers to add up to 250 miles (400 km) of range in just five minutes of charging.
The Han L sedan, starting at 219,800 yuan (approximately $30,000), is highly competitive, significantly lower than its pre-sale price of 270,000 yuan ($36,800).
New BYD Models Promise 250 Miles of Range in Just Five Minutes of Charging
This sleek vehicle features dimensions comparable to the Tesla Model S, measuring 5,050 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height. It is equipped with an 83.2 kWh BYD Blade battery that delivers an impressive range of up to 435 miles (701 km) on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).
With cutting-edge charging technology, it can recharge its battery from 10% to 70% in just six minutes and fully in about 20 minutes.
On the other hand, the Tang L SUV is slightly larger than the Tesla Model Y Juniper, priced starting at 239,800 yuan (roughly $32,700). Similar to the Han L, it utilizes BYD’s 1,000V architecture and supports ultra-speed charging, with a 100.5 kWh battery offering an equivalent range of up to 435 miles.
The SUV can gain approximately 230 miles (370 km) of range within five minutes, making it a strong contender in a rapidly evolving electric vehicle market.
Both models incorporate BYD’s advanced driving assist technology known as ‘God’s Eye’ featuring the DiPilot 300 system. Additionally, they are available as plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), with notable price points of 209,800 yuan ($28,500) for the Han L and 229,800 yuan ($31,300) for the Tang L.
The introduction of these vehicles showcases BYD’s commitment to innovation and affordability in the electric mobility sector.
