Hyundai recently unveiled the redesigned IONIQ 6 at the Seoul Mobility Show, introducing significant updates aimed at enhancing its appeal in the competitive electric vehicle (EV) market.
The IONIQ 6, first launched in 2022 to challenge the Tesla Model 3, has faced disappointing sales despite boasting impressive specifications. The starting price remains under $38,000, and the range is estimated at up to 342 miles according to EPA standards—making it one of the most efficient options available.
A 2022 report from Boston Consulting Group even identified it as the only EV meeting buyers’ expectations for pricing, range, and charging capabilities.

The redesign focuses on aesthetics and functionality, featuring a new ducktail spoiler that creates a smoother profile, which addresses prior criticisms of its design.
Both the front and rear have been refreshed, showcasing slim LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and headlamps that give the vehicle a more aggressive face. Hyundai claims that every line and detail has been enhanced to ensure the IONIQ 6 appears more streamlined and progressive.
In addition to exterior modifications, the interior has also received attention. Hyundai has updated the steering wheel and incorporated higher-quality materials into the door trim, aiming for a more premium feel. Practical improvements include a revamped center console and an expanded climate control display for better usability.
Excitingly, Hyundai teased a sporty N variant of the IONIQ 6 during the show, which will feature an even bolder design based on the RN22e Rolling Lab concept.
Details regarding the IONIQ 6 N are still forthcoming, but speculation suggests it may incorporate features and enhancements from the anticipated 2025 IONIQ 5, potentially including an additional NACS port and increased driving range.
