If you use ChatGPT regularly, you’re probably tired of always providing the same information about yourself for the chatbot to consider your context. OpenAI‘s AI adapts the information it has about you to communicate with you differently or offer specific information. But don’t worry, soon everything will be easier.
According to The Verge, OpenAI has launched a new feature in beta called “Custom Instructions,” which allows ChatGPT to get to know the user and consider certain user data during conversations.
This new feature has been released in beta for all ChatGPT Plus users, OpenAI’s paid service, except for those residing in the European Union and the United Kingdom.

“Right now, if you open ChatGPT, [the AI] doesn’t know much about you. If you start a new conversation, it forgets everything you’ve talked about in the past,” explains Joanne Jang, an OpenAI employee specialized in behavior models, to The Verge. “But there are things that can apply to all conversations.”
For example, if you cook for a family of six, you can provide that information in the custom instructions so that ChatGPT can recommend appropriate portions. Similarly, if you are a programmer and usually code exclusively in one language, the new feature will make ChatGPT provide the code you request in the way you specify.
Undoubtedly, this is a highly useful addition to ChatGPT that will not only save a lot of time for its regular users but also prevent it from making up information or frequently making mistakes by not having to provide extra information in each query.
As of now, the release date for this feature for the general public, as well as for users in the European Union and the United Kingdom, remains unknown.
