According to Adobe, Black Friday growth is expected to outpace Cyber Monday this 2024. The reason behind it is that consumers are embracing earlier deals promoted by US retailers. In a recent survey of 5000 US consumers, 71% stated that they plan to shop online on Black Friday, with 70% of them saying they will proactively check for deals during the whole Cyber Week.
More than 50% of Cyber Monday Sales Come from Smartphones
Mobile spending overtook desktop sales in last year’s Cyber Monday. For that reason, it is expected that it will be even more prominent in 2024. If we look at the 2023 data, 59% of Cyber Monday’s revenue came from mobile devices, with only 31% being generated by desktop computers.

From these, 97.3 million shopped over Cyber Monday, with 20.3 million of these sales being in-store and 77 million online. This data shows how consumers are rapidly shifting to online shopping due the convenience and quick evolution of retail technology.
If we compare it to previous years, Cyber Monday sales have been increasing year after year, only descending during 2020 and 2021 due the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a survey made by NFR, online shopping was the preferred purchase choice by customers on Cyber Week 2023. If we look at the data, online shopping led the sales not just on Cyber Monday, but also on Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Weekend.

81% of Global Cyber Monday Shoppers do Online Research Before Buying
A recent study made by Klarna shows how 4 in every 5 global Cyber Monday shoppers do some online research on the products they want to buy before going shopping in-store. Younger shoppers are more likely to compare prices than older ones, with 87% of Gen Z’s and 88% of Millenials researching before shopping. On the other hand, only 81% of Gen Xers and 70% of Baby Boomers check online said products before buying them.

56% of Consumer’s Holiday Budgets Will be Spent During Black Friday and Cyber Monday
Based on annual consumer survey projections, 56% of the budget reserved for Holiday shopping will be spent during Cyber Week 2024. This is a notable increase since 2023 and 2019, when it was 47% and 48% respectively.
58% of Shoppers Have Already Put Items in Their Carts to Purchase During Cyber Monday 2024
According to Deloitte, the desire for deals has increased exponentially during this year’s Cyber Week. 58% of the surveyed admitted that they already have put items in their shopping carts and are waiting to see if they will be discounted during Cyber Monday. 37% of the surveyed also stated that they will only purchase items during Black Friday and Cyber Monday if they are at least 50% off. Finally, 34% of the surveyed stated that they will make their purchases at work.

It is expected that all shopping categories sales will increase during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. According to Deloitte’s calculations, clothes and accessories will have the highest surge of sales during Cyber Monday, reaching 77% of the total. Data gathered by Perpetua show that Amazon Ad sales increase exponentially from the 1st of November until Cyber Monday. The latest data shows how ad sales increased 131% during Black Friday and 146% during Cyber Monday.
50% of Retailers Run Lead Acquisition Campaigns During Black Friday and Cyber Monday
