DC Studios decides to change its plans and focuses on what matters: doggos

DC Studios has initiated a new approach in its film and series production, focusing on the multiverse and offering opportunities to all the iconic characters of the DC universe. The Superman movie, which marks the long-awaited return of the Man of Steel to the big screen, will premiere on July 11, 2025, becoming the spearhead of this new phase. James Gunn, director, screenwriter, and producer of the film, has expressed his great confidence in the success of this renewed direction of DC Studios.

More attention to small productions

One of the most interesting surprises is the announcement of a series of shorts starring Krypto, Superman’s dog, which will be released shortly after the movie premiere. Gunn has a personal connection to the character, as Krypto is inspired by a dog he adopted, which at one point even destroyed a computer at his work. This series, which will showcase Krypto’s antics, is scheduled to debut in September 2025, approximately two months after the Superman movie.

Despite the fact that Krypto has not had a leading role in major film productions in the past, he has appeared in projects such as League of Super-Pets, released in 2022, where the character was voiced by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Peter Safran, co-producer of the new films, has also emphasized the fun of the adventures that Krypto will star in, anticipating that both comic book fans and the general audience will fall in love with this mischievous canine.

In a context where Marvel Studios has decided to slow down its production to consolidate its multiverse, DC Studios seems to be launching a strong offensive. The anticipation for the new Superman and his best friend, Krypto, promises to revive interest in the DC cinematic universe, with Gunn leading the new phase of these iconic stories.
