Loki was one of Marvel Studios‘ biggest surprises on Disney Plus. The production company’s third series made it clear that the platform was also a place where big things could happen, and it laid the groundwork for the entire Cinematic Universe to follow. Starring Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino, it turned out to be a spectacular fiction, and the origin of the entire Marvel multiverse.

However, the adventure was left completely open, and a second season is expected to close everything that happened in this crazy multiverse and then recover it in the rest of the company’s films. The date of this season 2 is not confirmed, but it was expected for summer or September of this year. And, for various reasons, it seems that it has been delayed to an undetermined date.

The reasons behind Loki’s delay

As reported by The Cosmic Circus, Marvel Studios will release the second season of Loki in October 2023, which is a bit later than fans expected. Previously, Loki was said to return in mid-2023, possibly in September, but now it seems that Marvel would be weighing their situation and Loki would be the main one affected.

Why might Loki be delayed? First of all, the company would like to further polish this second season to make the story more accurate, clear and entertaining. This emphasis on fine-tuning the narrative would have come after fans complained about the overall drop in quality of the Marvel Cinematic Universe throughout Phase 4.

But the biggest reason that seems to be behind this delay is the Jonathan Majors situation. The actor who plays Kang the Conqueror in the UCM was recently reported for assaulting a woman, and although the case is still being investigated, the actor has already lost many roles in Hollywood and his total cancellation is expected.

In addition, this allegation has been joined by others such as the fact that the actor playing Kang also physically abused a crew member working on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Evidently, Kang was supposed to be Loki’s villain, so if the actor has to be changed, filming will have to be restarted. There is no doubt that this news has been a major setback for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
