For me, it’s one of the best games of 2023, although veteran players of the series are complaining that the endgame isn’t as it should be: bland and with hardly any rewards and incentives to keep playing.
Well, as we were saying, Diablo IV, one of the most significant games of the year, will arrive on Steam on October 17. The news comes through the gaming news and deals Twitter account Wario64, who spotted an announcement of the infernal RPG on Steam before anyone else.
While it’s available on consoles (except for Switch), the PC version of the game was previously exclusive to Blizzard’s Battle.net service.
A decision that has been a long time coming and where Microsoft has little influence
The expansion of Diablo IV to Steam is in line with Blizzard’s previous efforts to attract more PC gamers, as they made Overwatch 2 available on Steam earlier this year.
Blizzard has stated its intention to bring more of its games to Steam but has not shared which games they plan to offer there or when they would be available.
Overwatch 2 was the first game Blizzard released on the platform and was met with immediate criticism. It currently has an ‘overwhelmingly negative’ rating with over 190,000 reviews, likely due to players’ dissatisfaction with the implementation of a battle pass and canceled content.
“Diablo IV, released in June this year, shouldn’t have that problem as it was generally well-received, and players are quite happy with it. Additionally, Diablo IV will be coming to Steam alongside the highly anticipated Season 2.
For this reason, it’s expected that at least in the first few weeks, user reviews will be quite positive, following a successful first season. Blizzard is taking a significant risk with this Season 2 and Steam launch. There’s a lot at stake.
By the way, if you want to play Diablo IV on your Steam Deck, here’s a very useful guide we released a few days ago to play any PC game on Valve’s console.”
