2023 has not been a very good year in terms of film production. Despite evident successes like Barbie, Oppenheimer, or Super Mario Bros., we have also faced numerous failures, as seen in the entire DC universe with films like The Flash, Shazam! 2, or Blue Beetle.
Amidst this whirlwind of failures, one stings particularly hard: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The film adapting the tabletop game universe into live-action was highly anticipated but turned out to be a box office flop.
However, this disappointment is entirely undeserved, as it stands out as one of the most enjoyable, adventurous, and action-packed films of the entire year. Now that it has arrived on the SkyShowtime platform, it seems like the perfect moment to either rediscover it or experience it for the first time.
Why is it worth watching Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves?
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves transports us to the well-known fantasy world to introduce a group of thieves led by a charming rogue (Chris Pine). Together, they plan to carry out an epic heist to recover a lost relic, but they will have to go through many, many adventures… and setbacks.
Beyond its impressive use of visual effects and the well-portrayed world of Dungeons & Dragons, the best thing about this movie is undoubtedly how enjoyable it is. The actors’ performances are incredible, in an unbeatable state of grace, and the jokes from the original script are equally fantastic.
“But the best thing about Honor Among Thieves is its excellent adaptation of live-action role-playing. They manage to perfectly depict what a fantasy role-playing game session is like, with all the recurring jokes fitting in seamlessly. Undoubtedly, it’s a perfect excuse to delve into an incredible world and have a great time in front of the TV.”
