The gaming world sits with bated breath. We’re all waiting for any hint of new information about Square Enix’s highly anticipated new release for mobile, Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis. While we know virtually nothing about the new game, a recent financial report suggests that it could be coming to a mobile device near you far sooner than expected. In fact, it could be coming as soon as September 2022.
The gist of the financial report, as it pertains to the release of FFVII: Ever Crisis, is that the game is expected to drop during the current fiscal year. The current fiscal year runs from April 2022 through March 2023. Essentially, this means we can expect to be playing a new perspective on the 1997 classic video game within a few months. But wait, that’s not all! The report goes further to state that the developers are aiming for a late September 2022 release. While we haven’t been able to narrow the release date down any more than that, the game is still all but confirmed to be hitting iOS and Android marketplaces far sooner than originally expected.
We may not know much about Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, but here’s a rundown of what we do know:
Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis was announced alongside numerous other titles that are somehow related to Final Fantasy 7: Remake. However, as far as Square Enix’s projects go, this one is definitely one of the most curious. FF7: Ever Crisis is an episodic retelling of the events in the original mobile JRPG, which sets it apart from the HD PC and console remake. This most likely means a more authentic experience. The game is also set to cover every single game within the Final Fantasy VII timeline, including the much-loved spin-offs like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy. The game will even go so far as to include Dirge of Cerberus.
All in all, the entire experience we’re expecting from Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis will cover the original storylines, character backstories, and new retellings of old tales, all neatly wrapped up in overhauled visuals that stick true to the classic feel of the franchise.
