Taking a page from Google Stadia’s book, GeForce Now adds a new feature to their offering. The popular cloud gaming platform recently announced a new addition to its streaming platform that will make it more enticing for old and new players.
That’s right, GeForce Now announced that they would be adding free-to-play demos for selected games. This will give players the chance to try out the game before purchasing the game. The rollout of this feature starts today. Users will start seeing ‘Instant Play Free Demos’ highlighted on the GeForce Now app.
To start with, the platform includes demos for five different games. These games are Chorus, Ghostrunner, Inscryption, Diplomacy Is Not an Option, and The RiftBreaker Prologue. Nvidia has also announced that the finalists of last year’s Epic MegaJam will also provide demos through the platform. These will include titles such as Boti Boi and Microwasp Seekers.
These demos work similarly to any other gaming demos you’ve seen on digital game stores. However, GeForce Now isn’t adding any time limits or other restrictions to the demos aside from its typical time limits. These time limits are one hour for free accounts, six hours for Priority Members and eight hours for RTX 3080 members.
Although this comes shortly after Stadia started releasing demos, there is one big difference between the two offerings. On the GeForce Now platform, you need an active GeForce Now account. This can be a paid account or otherwise, but it must be active. Google Stadia does not require an account to try the free demos; instead, you need to sign in with your Google account so that your progress can be saved.
We look forward to seeing how this growing platform continues to develop and attract more fans. The inclusion of demos is excellent as it allows the users to experience the games and see if they like them before spending hard-earned money.
