Google seems to having some server troubles as Google services are experiencing sync errors. Android users are reporting “Couldn’t sign in” errors on their devices. I’ve confirmed that this happens on my own Android phone. I also tried syncing with my iPad but it returned a 503 error when trying to access remote tabs in Chrome for iOS.

Google Sync Could't Sign In error

Google Sync servers are down [Update: they’re back up!]

Users on Twitter are reporting having the same issue, though Google’s product status page shows all systems as running normally. It’s been about an hour since I’ve noticed the issue but Google has yet to respond.

Google is having an event about Google Play at 7:00PM EDT today. Could the server issues be tied to preparations for a product unveiling at this event? We’ll find out in a couple of hours.

I’ve reached out to Google for comment and will update this post when I hear back.

UPDATE 4:20PM PST: It appears Google Sync servers are back up. Our editors’ phones and tablets are able to sync again. Are you still seeing errors? Let us know in the comments.
