If you are one of those who use Google Docs for work, the new update that Google is preparing might be quite useful for you. Specifically, we are referring to the tabs, designed to organize the content of our documents in a much more visual way.

Thanks to this update, we will be able to quickly jump to the most important points of a document without having to scroll. It works the same way for collaborative files and, of course, it will save us a lot of editing time. As Google explains, “tabs in Docs can be especially useful,” especially when you need to “divide long structured documents into more digestible sections.”

Although it was first announced in April 2024, it is now that Google users will be able to use the feature. Within each tab, you will have the option to create subtabs to better organize your document if needed. Of course, this also makes collaboration tasks much easier to carry out.

Additionally, tabs can also be shared as links. If you want to direct someone to a specific section of your file, you can send them a link with the tab. This way, you will save yourself from having to share the entire document and explaining where they should go.

The rollout of the feature began gradually on October 7. However, it will be from October 21 when all Google users will be able to use and enjoy tabs in their documents. But don’t worry if you don’t see it appear in your Google Docs on the same day of its launch. The update could take between one and three days to become effective.
