Take good note of this name, as it won’t be the first time you’ll see it on Softonic or even commented among friends. Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is the new video game that Warner Bros. is preparing for smartphones based on the Harry Potter universe.
After the incredible success of Hogwarts Legacy, this new Harry Potter product comes to the most commercialized platform in the world, that is, the smartphone. In addition, it will do so on the two operating systems par excellence, Google Play Store and iOS. Now, what is behind this game?
What is Harry Potter: The Magic Awakened?
Cards are more fashionable than ever, and Warner Bros. was not going to miss this opportunity. Harry Potter: The Magic Awakened is a card game based on the world of the wizard Harry Potter.
As it usually happens in the saga, the player receives an invitation to study at Hogwarts, the school of magic and wizardry. From this point on, he will have to carry out the activities typical of the school, although with a special feature: duels are more present than ever.
This title mixes the best of RPG with cards. In this way, we will not have a board where we place the cards and actions happen -which is normal in these games-, but our magician is seen on the screen, as well as the enemies. The cards, which are located at the bottom, represent the movements that we can perform on screen, such as spells, incantations, abilities or beasts to summon. Saving the distances, it is something similar to what Slay The Spire (a great game, by the way) does.
How many cards are available?
At the moment, and always thanks to the official information that appears on the website, we know that there are more than 80 magic cards that we can add to our spell book. Each of them can be leveled up to have more power, although the key is to form decks that are well executed strategically.
To get these level ups we will have to explore the entire Hogwarts school, as well as face creatures that appear. Similarly, you can also play quidditch, which although it does not have the same game mechanics, it does offer another interesting variant.
When is the game launched?
There is no release date assigned for western territories. Therefore, to see it in Spain we will still have to wait for the “coming soon” to be removed. Players who pre-register on the official website will get a pack of exclusive cards, as well as some more details depending on the number of people who are registered. At the moment, the number is already at two million, meaning that in addition to the cards you will get a Nimbus 2000, 1 library pass, 100 gems and 4,000 gold coins. You can access the pre-registration here.
Harry Potter: The Magic Awakened is already available in regions where mobile gaming is very important, such as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
The Warner Bros. game has all the makings of a huge hit. We repeat: more than two million registered users, not to mention the millions who are already playing it in Asia. As soon as we have new details to share, here at Softonic you will be the first to know them.
