The turmoil around WhatsApp and Facebook at the end of 2020 have caused a migration from the messaging app into safer spaces like Signal and Telegram both on Android and iOS. Whether you’re one of those people who want to delete all their traces from the app or do a little spring cleaning around the annoying group chats, we’re here to help.
How to Delete WhatsApp Group
If you’re just a member, simply leaving it and removing a group from your chats will do the trick. This article shows exact steps to delete one you created or were granted admin rights for.
Step 1: Remove participants
You should start the deletion process by removing all the participants from the chat. Go over all the members one by one, tap on the name and click “Remove.” We know this might be tedious, but it’s the only way.
Step 2: Exit the group
When only you are left, tap the chat name on the top of the screen, scroll down, find the “Exit group,” and tap it. Another way is to tap-and-hold the name and choose the same option from there.
Step 3: Delete the group
The last thing to do is access the group settings using one of the methods described above and choose “Delete.”
What to do with the chat media?
Depending on your decision to keep or remove all the pictures and videos from your device, you can either check or uncheck the “Delete media in this chat” option.
