Just a few hours left until Baldur’s Gate 3 arrives on PC. Millions of players eagerly await to delve into the third installment of this classic RPG, but let’s not forget a crucial detail: the game has already been in early access for a whopping three years. During this time, many users have already had the opportunity to experience the initial stages of this installment, but now they will have to delete their saved games.

Yes, you read it right, and it’s not clickbait or anything of the sort. Larian Studios has been very clear about this: it’s necessary to uninstall both the game and the saved game files before installing version 1.0 of Baldur’s Gate 3. “We recommend players with the early access installation to uninstall the game and then delete their saved game files. This will reduce the risk of conflicting files when the final game download completes and prevent any issues.” The communication team also tweeted about it to emphasize this point.

Indeed, Larian Studios has commented that there won’t be a pre-load option for Baldur’s Gate 3 because “Steam does not allow pre-loading titles in early access,” as this “would break the game for those currently in early access.” In other words, if it wasn’t clear enough, players will need to delete the previous installation from their hard drive.

Baldur’s Gate 3 returns over two decades later with a plethora of new features to discover. The PlayStation 5 version will be released in a month, while the Xbox version is still without a date due to encountered issues.
