On July 29, players will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the charming world of Tales of the Shire, a life simulator based on the universe of The Lord of the Rings. In this experience, participants will be able to live as Hobbits in the picturesque village of Bywater, where they can engage in activities such as gardening, fishing, cooking, and, of course, decorating.
A game that puts the emphasis on decoration and creativity
One of the highlights of Tales of the Shire is its innovative gridless decoration system. Jordan Peat, user experience designer, explained that this decision allows players to place objects in their homes organically, without being limited to a grid pattern. This encourages a clutter-core lifestyle, where players can showcase their creativity by filling their homes with shelves, pictures, and a variety of items, reflecting the charming clutter that characterizes Bilbo’s home, Bag End.
This freedom of decoration becomes one of the main ways players can express themselves, differentiating Tales of the Shire from other titles in the same genre, such as Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, which tend to incorporate more restrictive decoration systems. Additionally, when players enter decoration mode, the camera switches to a top-down view, making it easier to organize objects.
Developers have also indicated that they expect Tales of the Shire to not only attract fans of the saga but also bring something fresh to the cozy gaming genre. With availability on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, the game can already be added to the wishlist on Steam. The gaming community is eager to explore what this experience has to offer when it launches in July.
