These updates bring the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch, and Mac to the next level with a wealth of new features.
New systems, new experiences
Available for all users starting on September 18, iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 bring a range of new and exciting features. One of the most notable is the StandBy mode, which turns the iPhone into an information hub when placed horizontally and connected to the charger. This feature will display the time, live activities, incoming notifications, and a variety of widgets.
Widgets are now interactive. For example, you can control a light or mark a reminder as completed without needing to open the app. Additionally, the autocorrection function has been improved, and NameDrop has been introduced, a quick way to share contact information with someone nearby.
watchOS 10, also available starting on September 18 alongside tvOS 17, completely redesigns most apps. More space, more color, and more options to navigate information comfortably. It brings new watch faces, many more metrics for cycling workouts, and much more.
On our Macs, we can enjoy the wonders of macOS Sonoma on September 26. This new operating system doesn’t lag behind in innovative features. Sonoma introduces interactive widgets on the desktop, aerial screensavers in the style of Apple TV, and significant improvements in apps like Safari and Messages.
One of the most exciting features is the “Game Mode,” which optimizes CPU and GPU performance for games. This promises to offer a smoother gaming experience with more consistent frame rates.
