The first thing to remember is that if you have not seen the film and have no intention of going to the cinema to see it, all indications are that it will be Netflix who will get the rights to broadcast it via streaming worldwide.

A worldwide hit in the form of spectators

Nintendo and Universal have made history with the biggest worldwide opening since records have been kept for an animated title with $377.5 million.

Of the nearly $380 million, $172.8 million came from the international box office. In other words, almost half of the money was split between the United States and the rest of the world.

The film has just been released and that makes for brutal projections for the coming months. We are now looking at a potential $1 billion worldwide gross.

Fans are loving it, and it is expected to be well received with no clear competition in the marketplace in the future. There are no movies on the horizon that can rival it, nor “Fast and Furious 10”.

Other milestones it has achieved in just 5 days include: the biggest animated release of all time in 10 countries; the biggest release of a video game adaptation in 44 countries; Illumination’s biggest release in 30 markets; and Universal’s biggest release in 12 countries.
