Joker 2 confirms its failure with the data from its first weekend

It was known that Joker: Folie à Deux was going to be a risky movie since its development was announced. From the title to the inclusion of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, everything that was being revealed divided the general audience of the first movie, and the fact that it was a musical didn’t seem to convince many.

However, no one expected the movie to fail as much as it did. With the first one winning at the Venice Film Festival and earning an Oscar for Joaquin Phoenix, it was assumed that, at the very least, the second would have the audience’s favor. But nothing could be further from the truth. The data from the first weekend of release has just come out, and it is disappointing.

Far from the numbers of the first part

Joker: Folie à Deux has grossed 121 million dollars in its first weekend. The figures wouldn’t seem so bad if it weren’t for the fact that it needs 450 million to break even, as reported by Discussing Film, and it is most likely that it won’t achieve this considering that the anticipation for the movie is increasingly lower.
