Life simulation is a genre that had a very clear king: The Sims. Since its launch in the 2000s, the saga has had almost no competition, until now. A young studio, Paradox Tectonic, has decided to make things difficult for EA‘s game and has dropped a bombshell: next September 12 of this year we will have Life by You in early access version on Steam and Epic Games Store.

Rod Humble has taken the reins of the development of Life by You. In case the name doesn’t ring a bell, he is the former creative director of Second Life and also the former executive producer of The Sims. Paradox Tectonic is the company in charge of developing the title and claims that it will allow players to design and live in an open world where everything is customizable. In essence, it is very similar to The Sims, but with many more possibilities.

As we can read on its website, Life by You assures that we will not have loading screens and that we will be able to do activities such as taking a ride in a car or bicycle, for example. As in The Sims, we will be able to build stories around our characters, create families, love affairs, etc. One of the points where they have also emphasized is in the conversations. Each one will be unique and will be generated according to the situation that the characters are living (in fact, you will be able to create the conversations yourself).

In a statement issued by Humble, it states that “Life by You evolves the life simulation genre with a modern style, real language conversations and also brings a freedom of expression never seen before“.

The news comes at a key moment. The Sims 4 is about to turn 10 years on the market (a bit like GTA V) and EA has let us take a look at “Project Rene”, the game that would be the fifth part of The Sims. For the time being, The Sims 4 is more alive than ever and recently released a new expansion pack, Growing Together.
