If you are one of those who play on mobile and love mobile gaming in general, you are in luck, as 2024 is being a year of premieres, launches, and game announcements for this platform. The latest to join is Monster Hunter, the great saga from Capcom.
The brutal and monstrous franchise Monster Hunter will bring monster hunting to your smartphone. Capcom announced today that it is partnering with TiMi, the studio behind games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokémon Unite, to create a spin-off called Monster Hunter Outlanders.
It is described as an “open-world survival game” that can be played solo or cooperatively with up to four players. It seems that Outlanders will include the main aspects of the Monster Hunter experience, namely: exploration, hunting, and crafting. But with the live service and social elements typical of a mobile game.
What we know about Monster Hunter Outlanders for mobile
MonHun has become a huge global franchise since the release of Monster Hunter World in 2018, which went on to become Capcom’s best-selling game. Since then, there has been a live-action movie, the smaller-scale Monster Hunter Rise, and a location-based game made in collaboration with Pokémon Go developer, Niantic.
And Capcom is also preparing for the next big release of the series with Monster Hunter Wilds next year.
That recent success, combined with TiMi’s history and MonHun’s pedigree as a portable experience, are positive signs that this could be more than just a mere attempt to reach millions of mobile players.
However, we may have to wait some time before we can try the game ourselves, as it does not yet have a release date. Capcom states that “several game tests will be conducted before” its release.
