I’d love to be writing about Mortal Kombat 12 showing a killer trailer showing the fighting game in all its glory. But no, that hasn’t happened. In fact, what we’ve had is a 10-second teaser that shows a grain of sand exploding. Literally.
This enigmatic teaser is the one that has appeared in the video dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Mortal Kombat series. For almost two minutes, different personalities involved in the creation of the eleventh instalment talk about what it was like to work on it. Right at the end, Ed Boon, creative director, throws out an enlightening phrase: “And we’re not done yet”.
After this you’d think we’d see a little bit of footage of NetherRealm’s game, but the reality is that it’s that grain of sand exploding. And that’s it.
All indications are that we will learn more about the game at the upcoming Summer Game Fest in June 2023. After all, the title should be released later this year, so let’s get warmed up!
