MZ: Nuclear Survival, a multiplayer survival game developed by the small Japanese studio Wild Dog Inc., has captured the attention of genre enthusiasts following its announcement at the Indie Live Expo 2025. Set in the supercontinent Pangea, 335 million years ago, this title combines exploration, building, combat, and resource management, while incorporating a distinctive touch of humor. With a team of only two people, Wild Dog Inc. strives to provide an entertaining experience, prioritizing fun over graphical realism thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 5.
Multiplayer in every way: up to 100 players can participate
The game allows players to dig into the ground to discover artifacts from ancient civilizations, build bases, and recruit NPC allies. Additionally, it offers the option to form teams of up to three AI-controlled companions, who can be given strategic orders during combat. Although DMZ: Nuclear Survival is primarily designed for PvP with up to 100 players, it also features more relaxed alternatives, including private servers and an offline mode for those who prefer to play solo.
A highlighted aspect is its crafting system, which allows players to build bases and unlock new technologies. The variety of biomes in Pangea promises to facilitate deep and replayable gameplay in an apocalyptic environment. The incorporation of additional content and frequent updates is guaranteed, suggesting that the game will evolve over time.
Although a release date has not been announced yet, the focus on creative freedom and a laid-back tone could position DMZ: Nuclear Survival as an interesting proposal within the indie landscape. Players of titles like DayZ and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. might find in this production another reason to keep hope alive in the survival game market.
