It took so long to arrive that it’s hard to believe we’re actually writing this news, seriously. NBA 2K24 will feature crossplay for the first time in its history. To be precise, it will be available between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, allowing players from one platform to compete against those from the other (and vice versa).
Introducing crossplay in online titles is very positive for the gaming community. After all, it improves matchmaking by expanding the pool of available players. Additionally, it ensures that no version is inferior to another, as both platforms strive for parity and equal conditions. However, it’s important to note that crossplay will only be available between these consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S) and not their previous versions.
In addition to the crossplay announcement, 2K Games has also revealed another edition, in addition to the two previously announced. The new 25th Anniversary Edition, which has limited availability, will be priced at €149.99 and will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and PC until September 10, 2023.
The major addition in this edition is a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass, which allows players to watch the entire official competition. Additionally, this edition includes:
- A bonus for the Summer League (available from July 7 to 17, 2023).
- 100K Virtual Currency and content for MyTEAM, including 50K MyTEAM Points; a Ruby Cover Star Kobe Bryant “Rookie Card”; a brand new 2K24 Option Pack box; a box of 10 MyTEAM Promo Packs; a Sapphire Kobe Bryant Cover Star card (24 era); 1 Diamond Shoes; 1 Ruby Coach; and a new VC and XP double card for 2 hours.
- Content for MyCareer, including 15x 6 types of MyCareer Skill Boosts; 15x 3 types of Gatorade Boosts; a VC and XP double card for 2 hours; 4x MyCareer jerseys; a backpack; an electric skateboard; arm sleeves; and a new Black Mamba MyPlayer Capsule that includes a black arm sleeve, a purple oversized shirt, a yellow shirt, and a Kobe player panel.
