One of the most anticipated movies of 2023 was Dune: Part 2, the sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s original film that showcased in 2021 that a different way of doing science fiction was possible. However, due to actor and writer strikes, the movie’s release had to be delayed, and it will finally hit theaters on March 15, 2024.

The movie has been eagerly awaited, but everything indicates it will be another great triumph for Villeneuve in direction. He himself has stated that he’s prouder of this second part than the first, and that can only mean we’re facing one of the most epic films of the century. Now, its new trailer has just been released to further prove it:

What will Dune: Part 2 be about?

As stated in the official synopsis of the movie, after losing his father and his reign, in the second part of the film, we will see how Paul Atreides embarks on a mythical journey as he joins Chani, his love interest played by Zendaya, and the Fremen, on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family.

Moreover, the movie will be even more mystical than the first, as faced with the dilemma of choosing between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he strives to prevent a terrible future that only he can foresee. The script has been written by Villeneuve himself alongside Jon Spaihts, always based on Frank Herbert’s novel.

Regarding the cast, apart from Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani, we’ll also see Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica Atreides), Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck), Austin Butler (Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen), Florence Pugh (Princess Irulan Corrino), Dave Bautista (Glossu Rabban Harkonnen), Léa Seydoux (Lady Margot), Javier Bardem (Stilgar), Stellan Skarsgard (Vladimir Harkonnen), Charlotte Rampling, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
