Fancy trying something new? The indie studio Gentle Giant announced this week that its next videogame, Spiritfall, will be released in Early Access on March 7. In addition, those who want to try the game and lighten the wait can already download and play the demo, which will be available during the Steam Next Fest, from February 6 to 13.

Spiritfall is a 2D action roguelite that draws heavily from platform fighting games such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and is also inspired by Hades, the roguelite from Supergiant Games, to create a game in which players must make their way through places full of dangers while fighting hordes of enemies with combinations of powers that will change after each death.

The Indie Game That Everyone is Talking About: Spiritfall Announces Early Access Launch!

In this game, we will control Omenforged, a warrior of unknown origin who is chosen by the Divine Spirits to fight against a plague that is spreading through the land. In our adventures, we will encounter diverse characters with mysterious stories; we will be able to forge and improve an immense arsenal of weapons, and we will unlock new abilities and types of rooms that will be of great help to us.

In its artistic section we can notice the clear inspiration in the striking style of Hades, with handmade designs, combinations of lights and shadows, and a wide range of colors. We can also observe similarities with Dead Cells, the roguelite of Motion Twin, as in the design of its protagonist. In addition, as in these games, we can perform dashes and attack our enemies with multiple combos to the rhythm of a magnificent soundtrack.

The new poster accompanying the Spiritfall announcement also shows two new spirits, something that those players who tried the closed betas and the recent demo had not yet seen. These new spirits, based on a seahorse and a raccoon, will accompany us on our adventures and provide us with different attacks and abilities, just like their siblings.

Will this be the roguelite of the year?
