Pre-Orders Open For Kia’s PV5 With Impressive 249-Mile Range

Kia has officially launched its first fully electric van, the PV5, marking a significant step in the company’s transformation towards electric mobility.

With pre-orders now open, the PV5 is priced at £32,995 ($44,000) in the UK, boasting an impressive driving range of up to 249 miles on a single charge.

The vehicle is part of Kia’s new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) initiative, which aims to expand the brand’s electric lineup.

The PV5 will be available in two trims: Essential and Plus, offering consumers flexibility depending on their needs. It is equipped with two battery options—51.5 kWh and a more robust 71.2 kWh—that yield driving ranges of 179 miles and 249 miles, respectively. The longer-range variant is only available with a front-wheel drive and utilizes a powerful 120 kW electric motor.

Designed on Kia’s new E-GMP.S EV platform, the PV5 features a flat floor that maximizes interior space, allowing for 1,320 liters of cargo capacity with all five seats in place and up to 2,315 liters with the rear seats folded down.

The dimensions of the van are slightly smaller than the European Volkswagen ID.Buzz, measuring 4,695 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,899 mm in height.

Standard features across all models include a 12.9-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, a 7.5-inch driver display, wireless phone connectivity, and several safety assist technologies.

The Plus trim adds luxuries like heated front seats, a powered tailgate, and advanced collision avoidance systems. Kia plans to expand its electric van range further with larger models such as the PV7 set for 2027 and the PV9 expected in 2029, as the company enhances its electric vehicle footprint globally.
