You may remember No Man’s Sky as that video game that promised so much but was completely empty when released in 2016. However, over the years they have improved it with continuous updates until Hello Games has managed to turn it around and gain the support of critics and the public with a loyal community that has followed them on this journey. Now we have learned that their new update has actually been created as a tribute to a piece of fanart created by a member of this community.

In the drawing in question, a space traveler was shown fishing from one side of his boat. The developers thought, “Say no more!” and created the Aquarius update. Everything is connected, because precisely this fan got excited about the water when they saw how it changed in the latest update, in which they added dynamic wave generation and shiny reflections on the surface. The studio was listening to the fan listening to the studio. That’s how video games should always be.
Thanks to Aquarius, players can now find a river, an ocean, or a lake, sit down, and catch different types of fish, ranging from the most common ones we can find in our daily lives to absolutely strange alien creatures that actually fit better with the crazy planets of No Man’s Sky.
The update is, as usual, absolutely free, and in this minigame, you can also equip yourself with bait to find rare fish, find hidden messages in a bottle, unlock new equipment, and even cook what you find to make new recipes. This is patch 5.10, which can give you an idea of how much Hello Games has suffered to get here. But the journey, now yes, is worth it.
