Xbox has repeatedly told us that consoles are a thing of the past, even though they just launched three new models and currently have a whopping five different types of Xbox Series. For them, the future is in the cloud, so anyone with a screen can be an Xbox customer.

According to the latest rumors, Microsoft will expand Xbox Cloud Gaming in November to allow users to play all their games from the library in the cloud regardless of whether they are part of Xbox Game Pass or not

According to an article from The Verge, sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans told the publication that the company is preparing to test the new update as part of a project called Project Lapland in which it will expand its Game Pass Ultimate offering.

Play in the cloud regardless of the catalog, you just need to own the game in your Xbox library

Starting next month, members enrolled in the Xbox Insider program will be able to test the new feature, which will allow Xbox Cloud Gaming servers to support the streaming of thousands of games.

The streaming of all games is expected to be launched to more Xbox users at a later date after testing, and only if these tests are satisfactory (in all aspects: technical and adoption).

Xbox Cloud Gaming was supposed to launch with game library streaming in 2020, and Microsoft later announced that it would support the game library on the service in 2022.

The feature was not launched that year and the answer is quite logical: it was complicated due to the need to prepare the key infrastructure for thousands of games, instead of the hundreds that currently exist on Xbox Game Pass.

By the way, it is being warned that not all games will arrive on this Xbox Cloud Gaming due to legal issues (licenses). This is normal since we are talking about thousands of games. If the Xbox cloud truly expands to our entire library, the service is going to improve significantly, getting closer to the real idea of cloud gaming.
