Nvidia has launched a new program called Verified Priority Access, which allows a limited number of verified GeForce users to purchase directly the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards, which are always difficult to obtain due to high demand and reselling.
This prioritized access is designed to facilitate the acquisition of these GPUs at their official price: $1,999 for the RTX 5090 and $999 for the RTX 5080.
However, this opportunity is only available to those with an Nvidia account that was created before January 30, 2025.
A measure to prevent speculators
The program is currently limited to users in the United States and it has not been specified how many users will receive an email invitation to make a purchase. Invitations are scheduled to be sent out next week.
In recent months, the difficulty in acquiring the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 has led to skyrocketing prices, exacerbated by the behavior of resellers.
With Nvidia’s announcement, the situation is expected to improve for some lucky selected users. Additionally, the company has mentioned that it could significantly increase the stock of the RTX 5090 in the near future, which could help alleviate the shortage and meet the growing demand.
As an alternative, Nvidia will also introduce the RTX 5070 Ti, which offers 16 GB of GDDR7 memory and improved performance thanks to DLSS 4 technology. This new GPU will be available starting February 20 at a starting price of $749, making it an attractive option for those who cannot access the more expensive cards.
The RTX 5070 Ti, according to analysts who have been able to test it thoroughly, is showing numbers similar to the RTX 4080, so it is clear that the power jump in this generation is small. Enthusiasts should keep an eye on new availability and purchasing considerations.
