If you are Pokémon fans and have an active subscription to Netflix, you are in luck: The Pokémon Custodian has already premiered worldwide, a series based on the Gamefreak game universe and featuring stop-motion animation.
In the series we will follow Haru, a young employee of a Pokémon resort. Along with her partner, Psyduck, she will learn a lot about Pokémon and how to interact with them. Within The Pokémon Concierge, we will see many of the community’s most beloved Pokémon such as Pikachu, Eevee, or Magikarp. Below, we leave you the trailer, accompanied by the song Have a Good Time by Mariya Takeuchi:
Iku Ogawa, known as Hidari, has been in charge of directing this project. On the other hand, the script has been written by Harumi Doki, while the illustrator Tadahiro Uesugi has carried out the conceptual art. The style of the series is even more adorable (if possible) and a large part of it is due to the textile finish of the characters, which makes them look like animated plush toys.
As a novelty, 3D printers were used for the manufacturing of the dolls. These were used both to streamline the animation process and to give the characters great expressiveness.
The Japanese production company Dwarf Studios has been in charge of bringing The Pokémon Janitor to life and already had extensive experience collaborating with Netflix. Oni: The Legend of the Thunder God, My Dad is a Bounty Hunter, or Rilakkuma and Kaoru are some of the projects that also bear their signature.
The first season of The Pokémon Janitor consists of only four episodes and has a very short duration (between 14 and 20 minutes).
