Opera GX, the browser for gamers, has announced the release of the official browser mod for Cyberpunk 2077, created in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED. This mod is the first official collaboration in the world of video games to arrive at the GX Store, and brings the views and lights of Night City directly to users’ browsers, as explained by Opera in a press release.
Available starting this week for free for all Opera GX users, the Cyberpunk 2077 mod changes the usual appearance of the browser with a complete set of customizations, which include:
- Live wallpaper reacting to the time of day, with customized vapor color, glow, and glare effects — absorb the vibes of a lonely and rainy Night City or its colorful neon lights during a bustling nighttime.
- Custom RGB lighting compatible with Logitech, Razer, Asus, and Corsair products.
- Opt-in background music, custom keyboard and browser sounds for a fully immersive Cyberpunk 2077 netrunning experience.
- Shader: experience mild symptoms of Cyberpsychosis while browsing.
Opera GX allows for performing precise operations in the browser, from CPU and memory usage to RAM and network bandwidth limiters. It also incorporates an ad blocker and a VPN, among other features, that will allow users to enjoy a better browsing experience, whether they are expert netrunners or not.
“Do we even need to say how excited we are to include Cyberpunk 2077’s genre-defining aesthetics into Opera GX?” said Maciej Kocemba, product director at Opera. “The tools we offer our users to control their digital lives make all of them a netrunner in their own right, so their browser should look the part for a well-rounded, immersive experience straight out of Night City.”
