Peter Rawlinson has stepped down as CEO of Lucid Motors, being temporarily replaced by COO Marc Winterhoff.
This transition comes after more than a decade, where Rawlinson, who joined the company in 2013, has been instrumental in the technological development of Lucid, especially in the field of electric propulsion.
Rawlinson states that he decided to step aside after the successful launch of the Lucid Gravity SUV.
A successful career, despite being a little-known brand in the EV world
During his tenure, Rawlinson helped Lucid establish itself as a strong competitor in the electric automotive industry. His leadership was evident during the critical moments of the company, especially when Lucid faced serious financial issues.
The injection of 1 billion dollars by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia in 2019 allowed the company to continue its development, bringing to market the revolutionary Lucid Air, which has been acclaimed for its efficiency and advanced technology.
The company has begun a formal process to find a new CEO who is capable of executing Lucid’s strategy and guiding it into its next phase of growth. In this regard, Lucid plans to increase its vehicle production this year and has announced the arrival of three new affordable electric models in the coming years.
The new leadership at Lucid could mark an important stage for the automaker, which has challenged giants like Tesla with its innovative technologies, including a permanent magnet motor and electrical systems of over 900 volts. The direction the company will take under Winterhoff’s interim leadership and the search for a new CEO will be key to consolidating its future in the competitive electric vehicle industry.
