Toyota is set to unveil its next electric vehicle (EV) on March 12, and expectations are high.
The company has released a teaser suggesting an attractive and functional design, showcasing a coupe crossover profile that includes a sleek hood line and a rear light bar, complemented by a new front design known as “hammerhead”.
This design update seems to align with Toyota’s strategy to attract more buyers in an increasingly competitive market.
Toyota has a crossover SUV in the works, but it’s a secret for now
Despite its compact appearance, Toyota assures that the new model will offer surprising interior space and versatility, similar to what is expected from a crossover SUV.
This new EV is shaping up to be the production version of the bZ Compact Crossover that was introduced in 2022, and it will join the bZ4X and the new Urban Cruiser in Toyota’s electric vehicle lineup in Europe.
In terms of specifications, battery options of 49 and 61 kWh are expected, in addition to an interior system that will include dual 10.25” screens for both the driver and the infotainment system.
Although Toyota has not confirmed the launch markets for its new EV, it is expected to include the United States, where the company is establishing a battery plant that will begin operations in April.
Likewise, recent rumors suggest that Toyota might be considering an electric model of the RAV4 and possibly a change in nomenclature, moving away from the “bZ” system.
With its ambitious 14 billion dollar investment in battery technology, the company seems committed to its transition towards electrification and adapting to market needs.
