Barbie is becoming a phenomenon by leaps and bounds. Greta Gerwig’s film will be released this summer, but it’s already getting everyone talking about it. With the latest trailer we found out what it was finally about – a Barbie doll going out into the real world – and the director has also made it clear what her reference is when it comes to composing the story.
But Barbie will also be fun and frolic, and it seems that this will be very clear with the playlist of the movie. Warner Bros. has revealed, in collaboration with Rolling Stone, which artists will participate in the movie, and they are some of the most striking.
As we can see in the image, Barbie will have a soundtrack made up of the following singers and groups:
- Ava Max+
- Charlie XCX
- Dominic Fike
- Dua Lipa
- Fifty Fifty
- Ice Spice
- Karol G
- Nicki Minaj
- Pink Pantheress
- Ryan Gosling
- Tame Impala
- The Kid Laroi
Among the singers we see very well known names such as the Latin Karol G or the wonderful Charlie XCX. It also seems that Ryan Gosling will have his own song, something he hasn’t done (as far as we know) since he starred in the musical La La Land with Emma Stone. And there are other surprises like Lizzo or Nicki Minaj.
Below all of them is the person who serves as music director or executive producer of this area of the film: Mark Ronson. The regular producer of Bruno Mars and Miley Cyrus already won an Oscar with Shallow, a song he produced for A Star is Born. And now he could even repeat with this peculiar film. We’ll see if it’s up to the task, but the playlist is certainly to put it on and not stop dancing… along with Dua Lipa.
