Since the PlayStation Plus catalog was renewed almost a year ago with different tiers for players, it has been nourished by a large number of renowned video games. Unlike what happened with PlayStation Now, now we do have fantastic titles every month that are included in the PlayStation Plus Extra subscription (the Premium is for a long debate, we are not going to deny it).

If you plan to make the leap to this subscription, we bring you 10 video games that you must play yes or yes on PlayStation Plus.

What is PlayStation Plus?

Before getting into the matter, what you should know is that PlayStation Plus is a subscription system divided into three classifications: an Essential that costs 60 euros, an Extra that costs 90 euros and a last Premium that costs 120 euros.

PlayStation Plus is used to play video games online, as well as to obtain dozens of titles that Sony incorporates into its library.

Bloodborne

Hidetaka Miyazaki said that his favorite work is Bloodborne; and reasons are not lacking. The work that From Software did with this exclusive title for PlayStation is impressive. In fact, almost a decade has passed since its launch and it never stops repeating itself that hopefully we will see it one day on PC so that all players can enjoy it (like Elden Ring or Sekiro).

With a dark, gloomy and more Lovecraft-like aesthetic than the medieval one we are used to, the hunter’s dream must be fulfilled. Will you do it?

Celeste

Depression has never been so well represented in a video game as Celeste did. Created as a prototype in a game jam, Maddy Thorson, its director, saw such potential in this work that he continued with its development. The outcome is well known to all: one of the best platformers we have in the video game.

Madeline is the protagonist of this work, a young girl who has to climb a fictitious mountain named Celeste. During her climb she will have to overcome her fears and face them. The game is very difficult, but the experience it offers is impressive. One of those recommendations that should be on any list.

Devil May Cry 5

Possibly the best hack & slash that exists (with the permission of Metal Gear Rising): Devil May Cry 5. The game that Capcom developed in 2019 continues to enamor millions of people around the world. In addition, PlayStation Plus includes both the base version and the Special Edition, which incorporates Vergil as a playable character (you can play, therefore, with all four available).

The combat system that was created, with so many variants for each fighter, makes this DMC5 a title so special and remembered by all (in addition to a dream graphic section thanks to the RE Engine). In fact, they set the bar so high that let’s see what they can do with the sixth installment.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

It is impossible not to recommend this: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Within this subscription is the remake of one of the most famous titles in video game history. Released by Square Enix in April 2020, the edition that is included is not only the basic one, but also the Intergrade one. In this way, PlayStation 5 players will be able to enjoy Yuffie’s additional story (which is great, by the way).

Needless to say that later this year we will have the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the Remake. Therefore, it is a great opportunity to get your hands on this edition and start opening your mouth before everything arrives.

God of War

Now that everyone is talking about God of War Ragnarok for its recent release, nothing better than enjoying the first work of this new cycle: the God of War of 2018. Accustomed to that Kratos of the previous installments, this one tries to forget his past by raising his son Atreus. However, violence is intrinsic to his person.

Sony Santa Monica broke so many schemes with this God of War that it became, for many, the favorite game of all. And it is normal that it happened, since it is a great game with all the letters, not to mention the combat system so addictive that has where Atreus and Kratos combine all their power side by side.

Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition

Another one that started as a small project… and now is one of the most loved videogames by the community. Hollow Knight is an excellent metroidvania that stands out in every aspect: for its platforming, its action, its enemies, its final bosses, etc.

Players keep asking for its second part, Hollow Knight: Silksong, so while it arrives or not (in principle it does this year), there is nothing better than enjoying its first installment with a more complete edition.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

It’s usually off the radar of the rankings, but Hotline Miami 2 (and 1 too) is an excellent video game. Its mechanics are simple but effective: we enter a room and we have to kill all the enemies with a series of resources within our reach. If you don’t get it, the level is restarted.

To this we must add that the soundtrack of Hotline Miami 2 is one of the best you will hear in a video game. What songs does it have.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

Here we cheat a bit, since we recommend two games for one. Within the PlayStation Plus catalog we have both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The second is a downloadable content with its own campaign for Miles Morales. The grace? It’s as worth it as the first.

By far the best wall-climbing video game ever created. What a joy it is to walk through New York swinging with the cobwebs. In addition, its combat system is very fun, so you are going to have a great time hitting the enemies.

Returnal

For the server that writes these lines, the most original game that PlayStation has released in recent years: Returnal. Its scheme flees completely from the template that Sony applies to its games, thanks to a narrative where the time loop is present. Everything is told through the remains of our other selves. After all, Returnal plays with the time loop: if we die, we start over and our previous corpse tells us where we are. A daring proposal that has not pleased everyone, but it is very original within the rogue-like.

Its frenetic action, combined with the funniest platforming, made for an excellent game that deserves more attention.

Uncharted 4: Legend of the Thief

We close this compilation with Uncharted 4: The Legend of the Thief. Although it is true that it is advisable to have played the three previous installments, with this fourth part the final touch is put on the adventure of Nathan Drake. Yes, it can be played without knowing the previous ones, but if it is done, it is more enjoyable.

Naughty Dog created a balanced game where action, treasures, puzzles and platforms go hand in hand, as well as some levels where speed prevails above all else.
