Microsoft promised to fix Skype’s out of sync messages back in November of last year and is making good on those promises today. Users with the latest version of Skype for Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and Windows will now feature in sync messages. Previously, some messages marked read on one device would show up as unread on another.
Push notifications have been improved across the board but Microsoft has yet to implement a fix for redundant alerts across all your devices. The company says a fix for that is in the works, where only the active device will receive notifications. Favorites will also be synced between devices in a forthcoming update.

Battery life, start times, and resume times have also been improved on the mobile side of things. With these performance enhancements, it should be much faster accessing Skype while multitasking.
Microsoft will have to update Skype quickly as it’s lagging behind the competition, especially with messaging where Facebook, WhatsApp, and Google Hangouts dominate. Skype reached peak popularity in the desktop era but mobile has taken over. In a saturated market, can Skype stand a chance?
