Some modders are programming all of GTA: Vice City with the GTA IV engine, and Rockstar can't do anything!
The advantages of living in Russia: there aren't many, but they do exist

We can’t have nice things (if Rockstar is lurking, at least). A group of modders has completed the impressive task of porting the entire Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to the GTA 4 engine, and the final version of the game will be available to players this Saturday. The project, called Vice City: The NextGen Edition, includes all story missions, collectibles, music, and even the original cheat codes that made the saga famous. The mod’s trailer has garnered almost 100,000 views in just one day, demonstrating the high interest from the community… Who, for once, will be spared from Rockstar’s ban.
GTA, now without Rockstar
It is important to note that the modders team is Russian, and their legal situation might be protected by a 2022 government decree, which could complicate Rockstar, the company behind the GTA series, from taking legal action against them. Historically, Rockstar has filed lawsuits against modders for copyright violations, so this protection could be relevant in the current context.
However, Rockstar seems to be more focused on the release of GTA 6, which is expected this year. Rumors suggest that the price of the new title could increase up to 100 dollars (that is, a quarter of a PS5), which has sparked debate among analysts and developers in the sector. Additionally, the official version of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has had technical issues at its launch, which has disenchanted some enthusiasts of the series.
We don’t know if we will be able to play it, but for now, Vice City: The NextGen Edition represents an attractive alternative for nostalgic players looking to enjoy this classic adventure again, especially in a context where the official offerings don’t always meet the public’s expectations. Things made by oneself always taste better.
