While the total solar eclipse that everyone is talking about won’t happen until next week, residents of California, in the United States, were able to witness another major event in their skies on Monday night: the launch of a SpaceX rocket, Elon Musk‘s company.
SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Base, on the coast between Santa Barbara (California) and San Luis Obispo (California), at 7:30 p.m. on Monday (Pacific time). The base is located about 240 kilometers from Palm Springs, and the latest Falcon 9 launches from the base have been visible without any problems from the Coachella Valley, including one in March and another in February.

The launch on Monday was initially scheduled for last Saturday, but that plan was discarded due to the bad weather resulting from the storms that occurred in southern California over the weekend.
Just like the February and March launches, the reusable rocket put 22 Starlink satellites into orbit and then landed on an unmanned ship in the Pacific Ocean.
