Spotify will soon launch the Spanish version of its AI-based DJ. Thanks to this technology, the platform will provide us with a “virtual commentator” that will provide additional information and data about the songs we are currently listening to.
For the AI DJ in Spanish, Spotify has relied on its own senior editor, Olivia “Livi” Quiroz Roa. The company explains that after an “extensive international casting”, Livi’s voice was the one that managed to conquer users. In fact, many described it as a “close” voice and that it was like “listening to music recommendations from a friend”.
The comments from Olivia’s AI version are combined with an infinite playlist based on personalized music recommendations. These recommendations vary according to the user’s activity and can alternate between very different genres.
The Spanish version of AI DJ will be available for users subscribed to the Premium plan located in selected countries in Latin America and Spain. If you don’t know how to activate it, just follow these steps:
- Open Spotify and go to Search.
- Type DJ and hit play. You will start listening to the personalized DJ along with your songs. If you want to change the language, click on the three-dot menu in AI DJ and select your preferred one.
AI DJ, Spotify’s bet on artificial intelligence
Spotify first announced this feature in February 2023, advertising it as an “AI DJ in your pocket“. The AI-generated voice aimed to mimic the behavior of classic radio hosts, with commentary and introducing the songs that were coming up next. Xavier Jernigan is the voice talent, presented by Spotify as the first English-language AI DJ voice model.
Artist by vocation and technology lover. I have liked to tinker with all kinds of gadgets for as long as I can remember.
