Star Wars returns to video games with the creators of XCOM and Apex Legends

A new turn-based tactical game set in the Star Wars universe has been announced, titled Star Wars Zero Company. The development of this title is handled by the independent developer Bit Reactor, in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment, and will be published by Electronic Arts and LucasFilm Games. This effort marks a different approach for Respawn, which has already been acclaimed for its entries in the Jedi saga.

A strategy game with a setting very beloved by fans

Star Wars Zero Company is conceptualized as an experience in the vein of XCOM, focusing on a single player and set in a time before the rise of the Galactic Empire. Some leaked images, which have sparked the interest of fans, feature clone soldiers and recognizable characters from the Star Wars universe, such as Bo Katan, who has evolved from her debut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars to become a central character in The Mandalorian.

Despite the enthusiasm, it is important to note that the images are preliminary and may not reflect the final version of the game. However, the developers at Bit Reactor, many of whom have a history with the XCOM series, suggest that the game will offer a remarkable tactical experience, rich in narrative and in the elements that make Star Wars special.

The official presentation of Star Wars Zero Company is scheduled for April 19, 2025, coinciding with Star Wars Celebration. During this event, more information about gameplay and the story is expected to be revealed, as well as an approximate release date. In addition to this project, LucasFilm is working on other related initiatives, including a galactic adventure game developed by the creator of Uncharted, indicating an exciting future for Star Wars video games.
