Starfield has one of the best narratives in video game history, according to the creator of God of War

Since its launch, Starfield, Bethesda’s latest space RPG, has sparked intense discussions among players. While some consider it an ambitious masterpiece that transforms storytelling in video games, others do not hold back in their criticism, especially regarding its exploration elements. In fact, its rating on Steam has been labeled as ‘mixed’, making it the lowest-rated title from Bethesda on this platform, even below games like Fallout 76.

The renowned developer David Jaffe, known for being the creator of God of War and Twisted Metal, has openly expressed his support for the game. Jaffe has gone so far as to describe Starfield as having “one of the best single-player narratives in the history of video games”, stating: “There’s nothing to hate. I love this game; perhaps the best, in my opinion,” according to recent statements. Despite his enthusiasm, many players have reacted against his opinions, pointing out that they do not share the same positive experience.

The controversy intensified when Jaffe, in May 2022, criticized Microsoft’s decision to delay the game’s release. However, a year later, he seems to have changed his mind, praising Starfield as “the best singleplayer I’ve ever played,” inviting players not to let console rivalries overshadow a title that, according to him, offers an outstanding gaming experience. “I only completed the main story and touched a bit of the side quests,” he added, suggesting to those who are undecided to try the game through Game Pass.

As opinions on Starfield intensify, it is clear that Bethesda has managed to generate significant fervor in the gaming community, making it one of the most discussed releases in recent years.
