Tesla’s highly anticipated Cybertruck deliveries are currently on hold due to a containment issue that has left many buyers in the dark.
Delivery agents have confirmed that this pause follows reports of problematic trims detaching from the vehicle, raising concerns about the electric truck’s reliability despite claims of being “bulletproof.”
Reports from Cybertruck buyers have flooded forums and social media, with at least eight individuals voicing their frustration on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.
Tesla previously recalled 11,000 Cybertrucks in June
Many others have shared similar concerns on platforms like X and Facebook, noting that Tesla delivery specialists have informed them of a “containment hold” affecting all new deliveries. Such a hold is typically implemented when an automaker identifies a problem with new vehicles, aiming to resolve the issue proactively to avoid further recalls.
The primary culprit appears to be the Cybertruck’s “cantrail trim,” a decorative element that lines the roof of the vehicle. Buyers have expressed alarm about the flimsy nature of some trims, which could indeed threaten the integrity of the vehicle’s build.
Despite Tesla branding the Cybertruck with an exoskeleton design, the actual construction resembles a traditional unibody structure, with many exterior components simply attached trims.
This issue isn’t new for the electric truck; Tesla previously recalled 11,000 Cybertrucks in June of last year due to similar trim detachment problems. Reports are adding a layer of concern, particularly as images circulate on social media showing Cybertruck components being held together by glue.
As of now, Tesla has not issued a public statement or service bulletin regarding the latest hold, leaving many designers and owners in a state of uncertainty as they await updates on when they can expect to receive their vehicles.
