SIE Santa Monica Studio, as of today, is known for only one game. They have been working on God of War since 2005 and, since then, it seems like it has been their only project. In fairness, that is precisely the reality. Although they have worked with other studios on all kinds of other games, to find their own IP that is not God of War, we either have to go back to 2001…or perhaps look forward to 2025 or 2026, as they have recently hinted.

According to a user on ResetEra, a developer from Sony Santa Monica has commented that they are working on a new IP, something other than God of War. There are no concrete details yet, but it seems that they are working on a completely new game.

According to the LinkedIn profile of a developer who has recently returned to Santa Monica, he is working on character development for the studio’s new IP. After spending a short time working at Striking Distance and Unknown Worlds studios, he has now returned to the home of Kratos to work on this new IP, of which we still know nothing about. This developer, wisely, has not disclosed any further information, leaving us to wonder what kind of characters he may be working on.

The only other game that Santa Monica developed outside of the God of War franchise was the 2001 racing game Kinetica for PlayStation 2. Due to the amount of time they spent working on God of War, it is likely that the IP they are working on is also some kind of adventure and action game. It has not been ruled out that they have decided to do something different, but we are going to have to wait and find out.
