The film adaptation of Split Fiction is already a reality

The launch of Split Fiction has been a milestone for Hazelight Studios and Electronic Arts, managing to position itself as the second best-selling game in EA’s history on Steam in just two weeks. This commercial success is complemented by the critical acclaim it has received; the game has achieved a rating above 90 on Metacritic, being the first EA title to do so since Mass Effect 2 in 2012. Additionally, Split Fiction received a remarkable 10/10 on GameSpot. And, of course, the film world has already taken notice of it.

Hollywood doesn’t miss an opportunity like this

The plot of Split Fiction follows two young women, Zoe and Mio, who, despite being strangers to each other, find themselves trapped in a virtual world that merges the science fiction and fantasy stories each has created. In order to escape and return to reality, they must learn to collaborate and combine their skills in an environment full of challenges.

The notoriety of Split Fiction has sparked considerable interest in Hollywood, where it has been reported that a movie based on the game is in development. This project is rumored to attract intense competition among film studios. The production company Story Kitchen, which previously helped sell the rights for the It Takes Two movie, has met again with Hazelight to carry out this adaptation, with plans to assemble a cast, writers, and a director before presenting the proposal to potential buyers.

So far, Split Fiction has sold two million copies, and its sales performance suggests that it could continue to be one of the standout titles of March. With a combination of sales and critical success, the future of Split Fiction looks promising, both in the realm of video games and in cinema.
