So, we’ve had The Game Awards finally reveal the big winners, and it was nice to see so many predictions come true. While it was exciting to see who won the awards, it was also exhilarating to view all the latest gaming announcements and reveals.
To that end, I want to share with you some of the big surprises that aired on The Game Awards. Alright, we had some hints about a few of them, but the others completely caught us off-guard. I’ll mention the top ones in detail and then list the others for you to view.
Top reveals at The Game Awards
Let me start with the top reveals that I’m really excited about that appeared at The Game Awards. These are probably some of the biggest names, although I expected some of them to appear.
Final Fantasy XVI
Well, I’m sure many of us knew this was coming. Square Enix has been teasing Final Fantasy XVI for a long time now, and we finally got a Revenge trailer. The announced release date was June 22, 2023, as an exclusive for PS5. Unfortunately, it won’t be an open-world journey like we say in FF15.
CyberPunk 2077: Phantom Liberty (DLC)
Remember when Keanu Reeves was a massive name to appear in a casting role for Cyberpunk 2077? Well, Idris Elba is next on the list for the massively popular futuristic steampunk game in the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC in 2023. Reeves is making a return, with Elba playing an FBI agent.
Crash Team Rumble
In the wake of Team vs Team gaming trending lately, specifically with Multiversus, Crash Team Rumble is the next one to join the flock. You’ll have many of the loveable characters from the franchise available, battling in arenas for fruit. While the release is only indicated as 2023, it will be available on several platforms.
Death Stranding 2
Hideo Kojima entered the stage at The Game Awards to announce that Death Stranding 2 is a working title. While no release date was indicated, he did mention it will be available on PlayStation 5 so far. An older Norman Reedus appears as one of the characters, but it seems like he won’t be the main protagonist anymore. Check out the latest trailer here!
Diablo IV
Yes, we all knew Diablo IV was coming, so it wasn’t news that we expected it to appear in 2023. However, we initially suspected that it would arrive sooner than the anticipated April 2023. The Game Awards revealed that we’ll only see it release on June 6, 2023. That’s ok, as long as it launches next year on a platform that I can enjoy it on. I can’t emphasize enough how much of a Diablo fan I am.
