The most useful Twitter tool changes its name, goodbye to TweetDeck

TweetDeck has started to show signs that it will not escape unscathed from Twitter’s massive rebranding. Because, as you well know, Twitter has ceased to exist, it is now called X because Elon Musk wanted it to be.

If you take a look at the tool’s home page while you are logged out, you will see “XPro” in the upper left corner of the website, indicating its new name.

But that’s all for the moment: the page still displays the iconic Twitter bird logo, and still calls TweetDeck a “powerful real-time tool for people who live on Twitter.” And, yes, its URL is still on the Twitter.com domain.

Everything that reminded us of the bluebird is dying.

The rebranding of Twitter to “X” it came to us literally overnight in July, when Elon Musk announced the change in a tweet and apparently emailed his employees about it.

The social network began introducing changes later, replacing the Twitter bird with a generic-looking “X” logo, which will reportedly “evolve over time,” and renaming tweets to “posts” and retweets to “reposts.”

Both Google and Apple reinstated the social network app as “X” in the Play Store and App Store, respectively, at the end of July.

The change, though sudden, may not have surprised those who have followed Musk’s career over the years. Musk is known for favoring the brand “X” and had wanted to change the PayPal name to X.com before being removed as CEO

The executive also changed the name of Twitter’s parent company to X Corp. He said the social network’s new name will help it diversify and become an “app for everything” with banking and payment functions.

But critics doubt the success of the rebranding, with some calling it “the dumbest thing Musk has done since taking office” and something that now makes the company less identifiable and less valuable.
