MercurySteam, the Spanish studio known for iconic titles like Metroid Dread and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, is ready to surprise the audience once again with its new project: Blades of Fire. This game, which will be physically released on May 22 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a price of 59.99 euros, has generated great expectations following its recent reveal.
An action adventure that promises a different experience
Blades of Fire offers an action and exploration experience in a dark fantasy world. In this title, players will take control of Aran de Lira, who must face a kingdom where steel has been turned to stone by a queen’s spell. To survive, players must master the art of forging, seeking scrolls that allow them to create customized weapons with different characteristics, such as weight and durability, which promises significant depth in customization.
A key element of the game is its combat system, which is presented as tactical and strategic. Players will not be able to just press buttons thoughtlessly; they must attack specific parts of their enemies and choose between different combat styles, evaluating whether it is more effective to slash, stab, or crush, depending on the circumstances. This innovative approach is designed to challenge players to adapt to more than 50 types of enemies, each with its own combat style and armor.
The presentation of Blades of Fire has been met with enthusiasm in the gaming community, indicating a high interest in its release. With a combination of a richly detailed world and a combat system that favors strategy, MercurySteam seems poised to set a new standard in the action-adventure genre, reaffirming its position as one of the most promising developers in the industry.
