The remake of Perseguido, the iconic science fiction film from 1987 that has reached cult status, is taking shape under the direction of Edgar Wright and with Glen Powell as the new lead. The original film, loosely based on Stephen King’s novel The Fugitive, is set in a dystopian future where convicts participate in a deadly reality show. This new version promises to be an intense road movie that follows Powell as he tries to survive 30 days in a hostile environment.
Schwarzenegger is delighting with the adaptation
One of the most relevant questions after the announcement of the remake was how Arnold Schwarzenegger, the star of the original film, would receive this new adaptation. Powell has shared that he was able to talk to Schwarzenegger via FaceTime, where he received the actor’s approval, a support that, according to him, makes the work on this new production easier. “Arnold gave us his blessing,” Powell commented, emphasizing the importance of the family connection, as his son Patrick is a close friend.
The cast of the remake of The Running Man has also generated interest, as it includes notable names such as Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, Lee Pace, Katy O’Brian, William H. Macy, Emilia Jones, and Michael Cera. Additionally, Powell and Wright announced on their social media that they have already completed filming the movie, raising fans’ expectations.
The release date in the United States is scheduled for November 7, although the film still does not have an official release date in Spain. This remake comes at a time when revisits and reimaginings of classic films are becoming increasingly common, generating both excitement and skepticism among film enthusiasts.
