Volvo has unveiled its new electric vehicle ES90, based on the SPA2 architecture, which combines typical features of a sedan, fastback, and SUV.
This launch marks a significant step in Volvo’s ambitions to expand its electric vehicle lineup, offering both a sleek design and the versatility that modern consumers demand.
One of the most notable features of the ES90 is its 800V architecture, which allows for fast charging at chargers of up to 350 kW, achieving some of the most competitive charging times in the market. This enables recharging up to 350 km of range in just 10 minutes.
A family car, comfortable and ready for the future
In addition, the model has a battery capacity of 102 kWh, providing a range of up to 700 km (430 miles) in WLTP cycles, surpassing the capacity of the previous model, the Volvo EX90.
The ES90 will be available in several versions, including a dual motor (AWD) and a single motor (RWD), with performance that allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Additionally, it stands out for its drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd, the lowest that Volvo has offered to date, which contributes to its impressive aerodynamic efficiency.
Regarding prices, the RWD version is expected to have an initial cost of approximately $50,000, while the AWD version will be around $60,000 and the high-performance version could reach $70,000. However, although it features an attractive design and an optimized size, there has been some disappointment regarding the lack of a third row of seats and the limited space in the frunk.
With these features, the ES90 promises to be an ideal vehicle for families and long trips, highlighting Volvo’s competitiveness in the electric vehicle market.
